چکیده

During the Paleoproterozoic Era, Brazilian cratons experienced orogenic events that modified archean basement and sedimentary successions. In southern São Francisco Craton, it can be recognized evidence of an event happened between Rhyacian Orosirian periods. It is related to closure oceanic basin at this time, which led collision Archean Divinópolis Campo Belo metamorphic complexes. Graphite schist occurs close cities Formiga Itapecerica (Minas Gerais), located these To contribute understanding origin metamorphism graphite from Formiga, petrographic studies, X-ray diffraction (XRD) Raman spectroscopy analyses have been done. XRD methods revealed temperatures recorded by are around 460°C. However, data showed crystallite sizes correspond higher grade conditions (amphibolite granulite facies). Temperatures 460°C probably associated with hydrothermal processes along faults in post-collisional stage. The presence todorokite, a mineral typical deep-sea Mn nodules formed microorganisms, association suggests biogenic for occurrence.

Genetic Variability of Hiv-1 Isolates from Minas Gerais, Brazil

We report results of nucleotide sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of the env gene of 11 HIV-1 isolates, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Ten isolates belonged to HIV-1 subtype B and one was a probable B/F mosaic. This putative B/F recombinant is similar but not identical in its nucleotide sequence to other B/F mosaics described in Brazil.

Fatal Spotted Fever Rickettsiosis, Minas Gerais, Brazil

The emergence and reemergence of a serious infectious disease are often associated with a high case-fatality rate because of misdiagnosis and inappropriate or delayed treatment. The current reemergence of spotted fever rickettsiosis caused by Rickettsia rickettsii in Brazil has resulted in a high proportion of fatal cases. We describe two familial clusters of Brazilian spotted fever in the stat...
